“The groundwork for multi-instrumentalist/producer Will Holland, aka Quantic, and soul singer Alice Russell‘s newly released collaborative album started back in 2007. And over four years, the two longtime musical partners crafted what would finally be their first joint project in Look Around the Corner.

They recorded it at Holland’s Sonido del Valle studio in his adopted home city of Cali, Colombia, where they played with his latest band, the Combo Bárbaro. But you won’t find all the players backing Russell’s vocals here for the “I’d Cry” music video. Instead, it’s an intimate, beautifully shot duet that showcases her golden pipes backed by a borderline-jazzy piano and, really, we can’t think of a better way to kick off the morning.

You can watch the video above. It was shot by B+ of Mochilla, who you might know for his work on the J Dilla tribute concert, Suite for Ma Dukes. You can stream Russell and Quantic’s Look Around the Corner at Spinner. It’s available for purchase now on iTunes via Tru Thoughts.”

Its been a busy year at Quantic HQ, several tours, a Best of, an Accordionised Serato Vinyl and a new comp charting the history of Cumbia. To celebrate life out on the open road with the Quantic crew, B+ & Mochilla have edited up a special little video to close out 2011. Its an insight into the trials, tribulations, thrills and glory of a touring band from the tropics in euroland. At the mercy of uk festival drizzle, service station showers, late night finishes and early morning airport checkins, its a window into what we do best, travelling for musics sake. A big thank you to all who have supported us throughout 2011!
